Our Lord commanded us to, "Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”
What a wonderful, yet awesome responsibility we have to bring the children of our Church and community to our Lord and Savior. At Holston View UMC this commandment has been in our heart and minds for close to half a century.
Forty-Nine years ago, a group of people here at the Church, with a listening heart and motivated hands, created Holston View Preschool. Since then we have helped the children of our community be ready for school. But more importantly, readied their hearts to accept Jesus? This vision came in full view thirteen years ago, with the creation of our Daycare center. Now we are able to show the love of Christ to a generation of children that need Him now more than ever. Christ told us not to keep the children from coming to him in Matthew Chapter 19. However, it is our prayer to walk them hand-in-hand to his feet!
Holston View Preschool and Daycare is a childcare service that was started in 1971 as a Kindergarten for Scott County. From there it turned into a preschool and in 2006 the daycare side of the building was built. We take pride in the work and children we love!

Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

About Us
Established in 1971, Holston View first opened as a Kindergarten in Scott County and was later turned into a preschool. HV Preschool prides itself in knowing that children throughout the community started their education here. In October of 2006 after lots of planning, prayer and hard work Holston View opened the doors to its new building and began the journey of becoming a daycare and preschool facility. In 2006, Robin Huffman was named director of the preschool to help with planning. Within just months every classroom was full and there was a waiting list for enrollment. It became apparent that God was truly in this program and gave new light to the term "if you build it they will come". In 2023 after 17 years of dedicated service, Robin retired as director and we welcomed our new director Leslie McCrackin who has several years of experience in education.
Our Mission and Philosophy
"We Believe All Children are a Gift From God"
-
Children develop knowledge of their world through active interactions with caregivers, peers, materials, and events.
-
The earlier a child is taught about Christ and that He is their Savior the more likely they will be to know this in their heart for the rest of their lives.
-
Not all children are the same. They all excel and struggle in different areas and it is important to work on different areas with each child. It is also important to encourage a child in what they are good at as well as help them work in the areas that they struggle.
-
Learning begins at home, continues in early care and educational settings, and depends on parent involvement and care giver guidance.
-
Most importantly we believe that all children should be shown love and proper guidance. No child should ever feel like they do not have anyone to show them love.
