From Pastor Chuck:

First of all, what a tremendous blessing it was to have so many children leading us through our Pentecost Sunday worship! Let's continue to pray that God's Spirit falls on these families in powerful ways.

Some sad news: Our beloved music director, Marissa Mathia, leaves us at the end of June. She is returning home to Nebraska to work on her doctorate.

We already are seeking a replacement; spread the word to any qualified people you may know. Candidates are welcome to contact me directly at either (423) 491-0506 or cwgriffiniii@gmail.com.

As we move closer to her departure date, we of course will be celebrating her time with us and wishing her well as she moves forward in her career. God has given Marissa tremendous gifts, and we have been blessed to share in them for a while.

A recent sermon that referenced apologetics, the art of explaining your faith to others, seems to have resonated with some folks who want to know more. Starting 6 p.m. July 12, we are going to have a Sunday night program called "Explain Yourself!"

There will be teaching embedded in all of this, of course, but I also will make sure we have plenty of time for discussion. Most of all, I want participants to be able to work out their "what ifs" and be ready to confidently share their faith with others.

It will be helpful to me if those of you who are interested will register for the class. I am going to open it to other Global Methodist churches in our area, too. You can register at this link: https://forms.gle/Xtp5Sbww8WpNxDXr9

Registering will help me determine what kind of space we need and make it easier for me to communicate with participants as we near the beginning of the class.

This Sunday is Trinity Sunday, and I do plan to preach about this extraordinary and sometimes baffling understanding of God that we have. God is one, but we experience our creator as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. That great Scripture-inspired truth reveals a lot about us, God's creation.

Join us at 11 a.m.!
