If you're finding it too hot to play outside, come play inside.

We at Holston View Methodist are tremendously blessed with our own little gym, and we're making sure it's equipped for all sorts of activities. It has a basketball goal, of course, but it's also equipped with other activities for all ages.

We now have it set up with a net designed for volleyball, badminton, or "beach ball" volleyball, a great game for younger children. All the equipment to play any of those games is in the gym, named "Howard Hall" in honor of former pastor Richard L. Howard.

Pastor Chuck also has begun teaching karate classes in the gym on Monday nights, and all the equipment associated with a good "dojo" can be found there. Kids from ages 6-12 go first, from 5 to 6 p.m.; then the adult class (13 and up) works out from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Help us come up with other activities---what a great way to establish relationships with our neighbors!

Speaking of neighbors, don't forget to let people know about CrossClub, our 5:30 Thursday night event for children from ages four through sixth grade. On a weekly basis, we feed them, we teach them, we play with them, and most of all, we love them! Want to involve yourself in CrossClub? Contact Karen Peace at (423) 742-1501.

August is just around the corner. Here's what Pastor Chuck has planned for preaching:

Aug. 3: "The Result of Prayer" Luke 11:1-13

Aug. 10: "Do Not Fear, Little Flock" Luke 12:32-40

Aug. 17: "Division" Luke 12:49-56

Aug. 24: "Seeking on the Sabbath" Luke 13:10-17

Aug. 31: "Expressions of Humility" Luke 14:1, 7-14

Blessings on you all!
