From Pastor Chuck:
We are in the midst of Holy Week, where we hear the story of Christ headed to the cross, and then the crucifixion. I thought I would remind everyone of our schedule of events, including an event this evening.
At 6 p.m. tonight (Wednesday), we will have a prayer gathering in the sanctuary. We will use a prayer liturgy, and I will talk a little about the concept of betrayal. It won't be a long service; choir practice will still be at 7 p.m.
Our Good Friday service will be at 7 p.m. This will be a little different than what we've had in the past. I've written us a new liturgy, "Come to the Cross."
Our Easter Sunrise service will be at 7 a.m., with a guest leading our music on guitar. Breakfast in the fellowship hall follows. Our 11 a.m. service will feature our choir's cantata, "Forsaken," and a plain declaration of the Easter truth: "He Is Risen Forever!"
Connie and I will be on vacation the two weeks after Easter, driving to and from Denver, where I also will spend a couple of days in the last session of the Exponential program I've been going through. We have some good guest preachers scheduled as our celebration of the Easter season continues.
Following Easter Sunday, our church will begin in earnest raising funds for our upcoming Vacation Bible School. We want to be sure Karen Peace has all the resources she needs for what looks to be an exciting time for children in our area. Karen has plans to turn our gym into a Bible village; be praying that children and their families will develop a new or deeper understanding of what it means to follow Christ.
May we all be blessed in this Easter season to come!
