Hey, this is Pastor Chuck writing. There is much going on in the life of the church right now --- figured we need a roundup in one place.
First, tomorrow (Friday) marks the beginning of our flea market sales, a two-day event where we relieve ourselves of some unneeded items, make a little money, and most importantly get to know our neighbors better. We will be selling stuff both in the flea market down the hill from our church and out of our own parking lot.
Here's a volunteer need: We could use more people willing to show up Friday at 6 a.m. and help with the initial setup. Please come if you can. We will need people early on Saturday, too. We will be at it until about 4 p.m. both days.
A much-coveted item will be available at the church Saturday. We will have 100 gallons of Mann's Strawberries available for sale at $15 a gallon. Better get 'em before I eat 'em.
Holston View Choir Director Michael Downum will be holding a special five-week class, "Choral Foundations," beginning 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 19. Spread the word. It's not just for current choir members, but for anyone in the community interested in the subject. Here's the schedule:
June 19: "Beginning Theory"
June 26: "Phonetics and Pure Vowels"
July 3: No class because of Independence Day celebrations.
July 10: "Breathing and Respiratory Health"
July 17: "Voice Production/Auditory Science"
July 24: "The Bible Sings: Ancient History, The Bible and Music"
This Sunday, we will continue in our series of stories from the Book of Daniel. Also, don't forget that Father's Day is the following Sunday, June 16. If you want a name in our Father's Day Honor/Memory Book, you will want to fill out the appropriate envelope this Sunday.
And don't be surprised if you see a whole lot of people joining our church during the 11 a.m. worship service!
